some lunar rocks ;)
for the whole story, [link]
well, i have to add something for this one: these are tiny ice crystals --less than 2mm in size-- and would have better fitted in "elements" section but, being part of my "lunar" serie, i decided to keep it here with the other images.

Davvero carina! Sembra la classica foto da libro di scienze. Hai mai visitato Visions of Science?

My personal favourite out of your lunar series. The ice crystals actually look more like sugar crystals to me. Very nice composition, very conceptual. It does, however, slightly bother my eye that there isn't anymore dof than there currently is. On the other hand, it might look better this way. All the same, the overly bluriness is a bit pestering. On a whole, though, a good photo that would probably look brilliant as a large print and on the wall. Good job.

Beautiful light and color, I think this frame turned out perfect, well done, even on the crop. :)

very very nice, well, you have asked for Advanced critique on this one, so here goes.

Firstly, I have to say its an excellent macro, so please dont be offended, but, there seems to be a bit of a 'blue' cast over this and the other pictures, so I am guessing you didnt set your white balance prior to taking these shots, and the other comment I would make is to use the smallest apperture possible, this would make this shot a lot more in focus. Hope that helps!

thanks for your compliments.
you're right about dof: some more would have made this shot better than this --well, at least, different from this: better or worse is a matter of opinions :)--, but it was very cold, quite late afternoon and the light was very low. i didn't have my tripod with me and had to shoot keeping the camera in hands. this is a macro 1.5:1 --1:1 + crop factor-- and shooting without tripod with little or no blur is really hard, then i had to wide open to f/4.8 and switch to iso 800 to get a fast shutter speed. i'm going to print it on 8x10" for a contest: i hope to be, at least, admitted...

yes, i always do: i have no pity for others and want the others to have none for me ;)
the blue cast is strong and comes from the wrong auto white balance of my d100, that in very low light sometimes is fooled by the subject. it was, indeed, so late afternoon and strange light that it was blueish even when watched directly with your eyes. very strange sensation, i have to admit.
well, when i moved these photos on my notebook i watched them and they gave me the "lunar" mood i used for images' titles. then i removed the blue cast but i didn't like them as much as i did with the blueish dominant, then i decided to keep them this blue. and that's all, folks (cit.) :)
thanks for your compliments and all your comments, of course.
unfortunately, not having my tripod and being something around 0°C didn't allow me to close more than this and i couldn't get any more dof than this. i agree that some more dof would have made this shot a lot different than it is.
bye!
